THE MELLIN TOURNAMENT 2015

THE MELLIN SALVER

Disappointingly we went down 2/1 in the first round against Aldenham. This was despite an excellent win by our first pair of John Schofield and Richard Williams who now become the most successful Cranleigh partnership in the tournament since records began. Regrettably our second and third pairs of Martin Riddiford and Jonathan Williams and Mark Burridge and Max Hunt were unable to provide the additional point to secure a win.

We won the first round of the Plate against Hurstpierpoint 2/1 but lost to Cheltenham 2/1 in the semi finals with our first pair again winning both of their matches!

My sincere thanks to the team for their enthusiasm and comradeship.

THE PETER BURLES SALVER

We had a good win against Aldenham in the first round 2/0 but lost to Hurstpierpoint in the second round after an exciting play off that went to the third extra hole and was not decided until 7.30 in the evening! Again a big thank you to our team of Tony Mote and Andrew Cronk who won both of their matches, to Mickey Moore my first round partner, and to Ian Borrow who played with Mickey in the second round.

THE BUNNY MILLARD SALVER

For the first time as long as any of us can remember we were unable to enter a pair for this tournament and it was significant that only eight of the sixteen schools were able to do so this year.

We now look forward to the 2016 event in the hope that the teams hit peak form on 7th – 9th July!
