THE MURDOCH MEDAL

Philip Truett and Derek Markham have been jointly awarded the highly prestigious Murdoch Medal for the best annual contribution to the heritage of golf, for “A matter of Course – The life of William Herbert Fowler.”

The Murdoch Medal

The British Golf Collectors Society, at its discretion, awards annually for literary contributions to golf heritage the Murdoch Medal. This is the Society’s most highly regarded award and is made to a member of the BGCS simply in recognition of a ‘contribution to the heritage of Golf’ and is usually, though not exclusively, given for what the Committee regard as the outstanding publication on the history of golf in the previous year. Originality and substance are important considerations, but other, more general, contributions to golfing heritage are often taken into consideration. There are some years in which the BGCS do not make the award.

Philip is pictured above receiving the Murdoch Medal from BGCS Captain Caroline Kirk, on 13 October 2021 at Walton Heath, in the Holderness Dining Room on the occasion of the bi-annual match between the PGA and the BGCS.

Congratulations Philip.
