MELLIN RESULTS 2021

mellin_2021

It was great to be back last week representing the OCGS in the Mellin at West Hill.  The Mellin started many years ago when old boys who were coming to the end of their Hewitt careers or had finished decided they wanted to carry on playing competitive old boys golf.  The first 16 sides went and started a  competition at Woking called the Bernard Darwin and we were in the next batch of 32 schools that started the Mellin. The remaining 16 play a competition at Worplesdon.

In all 12 OCs played in the 3 different competitions.

Peter Burles  (over 65s)

First round beat Lancing 2-0

Second round lost 2-0 to Loretto (first match up 18)

Bunny Millard (over 75s)

Did not qualify (only 4 out of 20+ pairs go through to semi-final knockout)

I must particularly mention John Schofield who won’t mind me saying that he is a little past his 70th birthday.  John played 36 on Wednesday, 36 on Thursday, 18 on Friday and then went off and played squash after a couple of beers. A real OC athlete.
